Dissolve NATO — Establish the Atlantic & Arctic Security Alliance (AASA) Without the United States
We, the undersigned, call on our governments and international legislative bodies to enact new legislation to formally wind down the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and replace it with a new collective defense and cooperation alliance — the Atlantic & Arctic Security Alliance (AASA) — explicitly excluding the United States as a member, ensuring that security agreements preserve sovereignty and peace, not unilateral interventions.

Recent actions and rhetoric from the U.S. executive branch have alarmed democratic nations and their citizens:
Leaders in Greenland and Denmark have publicly rejected any suggestion that Greenland should be ceded or taken by the United States — especially by force — asserting that “we do not want to be Americans” and that Greenland’s future must be determined by its people.
Denmark’s Prime Minister warned that any U.S. military aggression toward Greenland could destroy NATO and unravel the post-World War II security architecture.
European governments, including Germany and Italy, have resisted the notion of a U.S. military takeover and emphasized respect for international law and alliances.
The NATO framework was once a bulwark of collective defense. But when one member threatens territorial aggression against another allied territory, it betrays the alliance’s founding principles of mutual respect and peace.
We propose the Atlantic & Arctic Security Alliance (AASA) — a peace-oriented security pact composed of democratic nations committed to:
✔️ Upholding the sovereignty and self-determination of all nations
✔️ Respecting international law, human rights, and territorial integrity
✔️ Cooperating on Arctic, economic, and cyber security challenges
✔️ Defending against bona fide threats — not unilateral interventions
✔️ Fostering shared prosperity, climate action, and technological cooperation
No nation in AASA should have veto power that can be used to intimidate or coerce another’s territory or people.

Demand that our governments:
Immediately begin the legal process to sunset NATO, respecting treaties and allied agreements.
Convene an international summit of democratic nations to draft and ratify the Atlantic & Arctic Security Alliance (AASA).
Pass legislation committing to AASA principles of peace, sovereignty, and cooperative security — without the United States as a member.
Establish oversight mechanisms ensuring any military cooperation is transparent, consensual, and legally grounded.
